Fields are Three-Dimensional...Reconsidered

  • Many of the fields we encounter are three-dimensional (require an x, y, z coordinate to describe).
  • However, not all fields have to be described with an x, y and z coordinate.
  • A field on a surface would be described with two coordinates (such as the surface temperature at any location on the ocean).
